Abstract
Emotions play a crucial role in human life. The research community has proposed many theories of emotions without reaching consensus. Artificial Intelligence research uses emotion theories in the construction of artificial minds. It can also bring fresh perspective to emotion theories. Based on my observations on Soar cognitive architecture, I propose in this paper that the mind pursues goals with closed control loops and emotions are recognized patterns of cognitive operations in the control loops. The mind uses these operations to detect and eliminate the deviations between the targets of its goals and the outcomes of its actions. I map the patterns of cognitive operations to emotions. I present different complexities in the control loops. I show how my theory connects to existing theories and goes beyond them. I provide my answers to the five questions of emotion psychology. I show how psychological problems may arise when the mind fails to adapt the control loops. My theory advances the building of a more accurate theory of emotions that deepens the understanding of human minds and accelerates the construction of artificial minds.
This publication proposes a definition and a classification of agile software development approaches and analyses ten software development methods that can be characterized as being "agile" against the defined criterion.

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.

The perception of the impact of agile methods is predominantly positive, and several challenge areas were discovered, but based on this study, agile methods are here to stay.
