TL;DR

A lower LVEF, a lower T2-SI ratio, and a larger LA diameter remained associated with higher NT-proBNP levels after adjustment for the available clinical and imaging covariates, but these cross-sectional findings do not establish causality or prognostic value.

Abstract

Simple Summary In this retrospective, single-center study of 92 patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction, we examined the associations between cardiac magnetic resonance findings and NT-proBNP levels. A lower LVEF, a lower T2-SI ratio, and a larger LA diameter remained associated with higher NT-proBNP levels after adjustment for the available clinical and imaging covariates. These cross-sectional findings do not establish causality or prognostic value. The T2-SI ratio and LA diameter should be considered exploratory imaging markers that require validation in larger prospective multicenter studies.

Association of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging parameters with N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide levels.

PURPOSE This study aimed to evaluate the associations between serum N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels and conventional and tissue-characterization cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging parameters. METHODS This retrospective, single-center study included 204 patients who underwent CMR and...

Obesity and left atrial function in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: OLA-HF registry.

In obese HFpEF patients, LA strain is associated with NT-proBNP levels, while atrial stiffness is associated with NT-proBNP and functional capacity, and these parameters provide complementary information on hemodynamic burden and clinical status.

Prognostic Value of Strain Imaging Measurements in Patients with Non-ischemic Cardiomyopathy: A Scoping Review.

Strain parameters, particularly LVGLS, remained independently associated with outcomes in 34 of 36 studies after multivariable adjustment, often providing incremental value beyond LVEF and late gadolinium enhancement, and support strain imaging, especially LVGLS, as an adjunct to conventional risk stratification in div...

Glycemic Status, Cardiac Structure, and Function by Magnetic Resonance Imaging: The Jackson Heart Study.

BACKGROUND Type 2 diabetes is associated with a high risk of heart failure. Hence, precise cardiac imaging can help early detection of subclinical myocardial dysfunction. We investigated the associations of glycemic status and markers with left ventricular (LV) remodeling assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging...

Women’s heart and echocardiography

Echocardiography is the primary imaging modality for evaluating cardiovascular disease, providing comprehensive assessment of cardiac structure, function, and hemodynamics. Its noninvasive nature, wide availability, and absence of radiation make it particularly suitable for repeated use, including in younger women and...
