EFFECT OF CO-INOCULATION WITH RHIZOBIUM TROPICI AND AZOSPIRILLUM BRASILENSE IN OFF-SEASON COWPEA CULTIVATION IN WESTERN BAHIA

Abstract

Beans represent an important food source throughout the world, being a staple in diet due to their ease of cultivation and management. In the North and Northeast of Brazil, the consumption of cowpeas (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) is very significant. Through this work, sought to demonstrate the effect of coinoculation on cowpea using Azospirillum brasilense and Rhizobium tropici in second crop cultivation in the western region of Bahia. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with four treatments and four replications.The experiment was carried out in the field, using the Pingo de Ouro landrace variety with the following treatments: T1 without inoculant, T2 with Rhizobium tropici, T3 with Azospirillum brasilense and T4 with both. The variables of quantity and weight of nodules, root length and weight (cm), weight of fresh leaves (g), weight of dry leaves (g) and stem weight (g) were analyzed in V5 and R1, as well as such as the analysis of plant tissue in V5 and R1, and bromatological analysis of harvested grains.
