Step-by-step maturation mechanism of the binary toxin pore revealed by cryo-EM analysis

Comparative structural analysis revealed that the prepore-to-pore transition proceeds through stepwise, domino-like conformational changes, providing a framework for understanding PFP maturation and for engineering membrane pores with controlled assembly, stability and lumen architecture properties.
