A lactate-HIF1α-VDR positive feedback loop drives protective SPP1⁺ macrophage differentiation to inhibit schistosomiasis-induced liver fibrosis
It is shown that vitamin D receptor (VDR) signaling in macrophages is essential for limiting fibrosis, acting through a previously unrecognized metabolic-epigenetic circuit and identified macrophage VDR as a promising therapeutic target for fibrotic liver diseases.
