Mechanistic insight into SP1-mediated transcriptional activation of the long non-coding RNA MIR100HG.

Findings provide the first direct evidence that SP1 transcriptionally activates MIR100HG while simultaneously suppressing malignant cellular phenotypes, revealing a novel SP1-MIR100HG regulatory axis that may contribute to hepatocellular carcinoma progression in an oxygen-dependent manner.

Context-dependent effects of MIR100HG on tumorigenic phenotypes and p38/MAPK–AKT signaling in hepatocellular carcinoma

The findings suggest that the effects of MIR100HG on oncogenic signaling are highly dependent on the cellular oxygenation context and that hypoxia reshapes the downstream signaling consequences of MIR100HG expression in HCC cells.
