Technique for Applying Collective Dynamic Routing Method in a Wireless Heterogeneous Network with Sensors

In this study, a technique for applying the collective dynamic routing method for jointly managing data flows across a heterogeneous network serving both mobile users and sensors simultaneously is developed. A heterogeneous network structure is proposed, including 802.15.4, Wi-Fi 2.4, and Wi-Fi 5 subnets. To implement this technique, algorithms for determining the actual volumes of data that can be delivered over the subnet and for operating the heterogeneous network backbone router using a prioritization principle are developed. The effectiveness of using multiple subnets within a heterogeneous network serving 20 mobile users and 100 fixed sensors with a collective dynamic routing method is validated via simulation. The simulation results show that it is advisable to construct a heterogeneous network using only two subnets: Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 2.4. The resulting heterogeneous network has a lower network load and a higher overall data transfer rate with a minimal increase in sensor power consumption compared to using a single Wi-Fi 2.4 network. The obtained sensor power consumption estimates were confirmed experimentally.
