Intracellular complement factor H protects neurons during CNS inflammation

Using single-nucleus RNA-sequencing analysis of RGCs from donors with MS and control individuals, it is found that CFH expression was strongly correlated with intrinsic resilience to RGC degeneration and reveals a non-canonical intracellular function of CFH in neurons.

Genome-wide association analyses highlight the neuronal contribution to multiple sclerosis susceptibility

Inhibitory neurons emerged as a key target cell type for MS-associated variants, with seven loci, including STAT3, displaying altered expression only in these cells, suggesting that MS susceptibility may reflect reduced central nervous system resilience to inflammatory challenges.

Remodeling oligodendrocyte lipid metabolism via liver X receptors overcomes inflammatory blockade of remyelination

It is shown that inflammation reprograms OPC lipid metabolism, linking altered metabolism to remyelination failure and highlighting LXR activation as a therapeutic approach to enhance remyelination in multiple sclerosis.
