GENERAL AND PRIMARY INCIDENCE OF PSORIASIS AMONG CHILDREN IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Significance. Psoriasis is a chronic dermatosis, the development of which depends on various factors. Many organs and systems of the body are involved in the pathological process, leading to the patient’s disability in the future. Purpose. To identify major trends in the morbidity of psoriasis among children in the federal districts of the Russian Federation. Material and methods. We have carried out an analysis of the morbidity of psoriasis in the age groups of children aged 0-14 and 15-17 years in the Russian Federation by federal district in comparison with the national data for the period from 2016 to 2024. The analysis was based on data of the Federal statistical observation presented in statistical collections of the Ministry of Health for 2017-2025. The study used the following methods: content analysis, statistical and analytical methods. The Excel program was used for data processing. Results. Over the study period (2016-2024), the incidence of psoriasis in children aged 0-14 decreased in the Southern Federal District (by 39.0%), while it increased in other federal districts. The prevalence of psoriasis decreased only in the Southern Federal District (by 19.3%) and the North Caucasus Federal District (by 10.5%), while it increased in all other districts. During the same period, the incidence of psoriasis among children aged 15-17 increased in the Central Federal District (by 28.8%), the North-Western Federal District (by 41.2%), and the Siberian Federal District (by 9.4%), while it decreased in the remaining districts. The prevalence of psoriasis in this age group increased only in the Central Federal District (by 32.4%), and decreased in the remaining districts. Overall, the national incidence rate among children aged 0-14 increased by 10.0%, while the prevalence rate increased by 14.1%. For children aged 15-17, both the incidence and prevalence rates increased by 0.3%. Conclusion. The rates of psoriasis incidence and prevalence in the age groups of children aged 0 to 14 and 15 to 17 years in the Russian Federation as well as in the federal districts were unstable: a growth alternated with a decline. Nevertheless, over the entire period under study, both incidence and prevalence rates of psoriasis increased in both age groups of children. Scope of application. The study was conducted only in the context of the age groups of children aged 0-14 and 15-17 years. The study results can inform the development of dermatosis prevention programs among children. Keywords: psoriasis; children; trends in indicators; federal districts.
