Transcatheter vs Surgical Replacement of Degenerated Bioprosthetic Aortic Valve: A Meta-Analysis of Propensity-Score-Matched Studies.

INTRODUCTION Degeneration of bioprosthetic aortic valves is a common late complication. While redo surgical aortic valve replacement (redo-SAVR) has traditionally been the standard of care, transcatheter valve-in-valve implantation (ViV-TAVR) has emerged as a less invasive alternative. This meta-analysis aimed to compa...

Left Atrial Appendage Closure Versus Oral Anticoagulation in Atrial Fibrillation: An Updated Meta-Analysis of RCTs Using Reconstructed Individual Patient Data.

Left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) is a reasonable alternative to oral anticoagulation (OAC) in selected patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We conducted an updated meta-analysis of RCTs comparing LAAC vs. OAC in patients with AF. The primary efficacy endpoint was a composite of all stroke, systemic embolism, or...

Outcomes of SGLT2 inhibitors after transcatheter mitral valve repair in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

BACKGROUND Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) have demonstrated cardio- and renoprotective effects in patients with heart failure and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, their impact on patients undergoing transcatheter mitral valve repair (TEER) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the...

Hemodynamic Changes After Transcatheter Valve Repair and Replacement for Tricuspid Regurgitation.

TEER was associated with a greater reduction in right atrial pressure and more favorable RV remodeling at 30 days, as opposed to TTVR, which achieved more complete and sustained elimination of tricuspid regurgitation with higher forward stroke volume.
