Effects of three insecticides on Trichogramma chilonis (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) assessed using an age-stage, two-sex life table
README: Raw Data for Effects of three insecticides on Trichogramma chilonis (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) assessed using an age-stage, two-sex life table Dataset Overview This document provides complete variable definitions, units, coding keys, sheet descriptions and data specifications for all raw data accompanying the manuscript submitted to Environmental Entomology. All data are prepared in compliance with Dryad curation standards for transparency, reproducibility and reuse. The raw observational data for the age-stage, two-sex life table is stored in a specialized format required by the TWO-SEX life table analysis software, which supports the standard workflow for life table calculation. Associated Files raw_data.xlsx: Microsoft Excel file containing all raw observational data, toxicity bioassay results, parasitism data and life table parameters, with clearly labeled sheets (no merged cells, no data filters, no hidden formatting): Table2: Toxicity bioassay data of three insecticides against Trichogramma chilonis. Control / Beta-cypermethrin / Dinotefuran / Rotenone: Raw observational data for the age-stage, two-sex life table (raw data for Table 3 and Table 4 in the manuscript), in the specialized format required by the TWO-SEX life table software. Table5: Parasitism and offspring sex ratio data of Trichogramma chilonis under different treatments. Figure1_sxj: Data for age-stage specific survival rate (sₓⱼ) used in Figure 1(a-d). Figure2_lx_fx_mx_lxmx: Data for age-specific survival rate (lₓ), age-stage fecundity (fₓ), age-specific fecundity (mₓ) and age-specific maternity (lₓmₓ) used in Figure 2(a-d). Figure3_exj: Data for age-stage specific life expectancy (eₓⱼ) used in Figure 3(a-d). Figure4_vxj: Data for age-stage specific reproductive value (vₓⱼ) used in Figure 4(a-d). This README.md: Full documentation of all variables, data structure, coding rules and sheet correspondence. Variable Definitions, Units and Interpretation Keys 1. Toxicity Bioassay Data (Table2) Variable Name Definition Unit Coding / Value Key Concentration Insecticide treatment concentration mg/L 500, 250, 125, 62.5, 31.25; Control = untreated control Total Total number of Trichogramma chilonis individuals tested individuals positive integer Dead Number of dead Trichogramma chilonis individuals individuals positive integer 2. Age-Stage, Two-Sex Life Table Raw Observational Data (Control / Beta-cypermethrin / Dinotefuran / Rotenone) These four sheets store the raw observational data for Table 3 and Table 4 in the manuscript, presented in the specialized input format required by the TWO-SEX life table analysis software. Due to variable oviposition periods and death times of individual wasps, this compact structured format cannot be split into single-value columns, as it would disrupt standard TWO-SEX software operations. Variable Component Definition Unit Coding / Value Key ID Unique identifier for each individual wasp none 1–100 (100 individuals per treatment group) Sex Sex and developmental status none F = adult female; M = adult male; N = unknown sex; Immature = immature stage Pre-adult duration Developmental duration of the immature stage (egg to adult emergence) days numeric value Adult longevity Adult lifespan (from emergence to death) days numeric value Daily fecundity Daily number of eggs laid per female wasp eggs per female per day non-negative integer; -1 = observation terminated / individual dead 3. Parasitism and Offspring Sex Ratio Data (Table5) Variable Name Definition Unit Coding / Value Key Replication Biological replicate number none 1–10 Blackened_eggs Number of parasitized (blackened) rice moth eggs eggs non-negative integer Total_eggs Total number of rice moth eggs provided eggs non-negative integer Female Number of emerged female offspring individuals non-negative integer Male Number of emerged male offspring individuals non-negative integer 4. Life Table Parameters (Figures 1–4) Data in these sheets are derived parameters used to generate Figures 1–4 in the manuscript, with clear definitions as follows: Figure1_sxj (Age-stage specific survival rate, sₓⱼ): Probability that a newly laid egg survives to age x and stage j. Figure2_lx_fx_mx_lxmx: lₓ: Age-specific survival rate (probability that a newborn individual survives to age x) fₓ: Age-stage fecundity of female wasps at age x mₓ: Age-specific fecundity (mean eggs laid per individual at age x) lₓmₓ: Age-specific net reproductive contribution (product of lₓ and mₓ) Figure3_exj (Age-stage specific life expectancy, eₓⱼ): Remaining lifespan of an individual at age x and stage j. Figure4_vxj (Age-stage specific reproductive value, vₓⱼ): Contribution of an individual at age x and stage j to future population growth. All life table parameter variables are presented as numeric values; survival and proportion variables range from 0 to 1. Data Format and Coding Rules File format: Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) with clearly labeled sheets; no merged cells, no data filters, no embedded formulas, no hidden formatting. Special format note: The Control, Beta-cypermethrin, Dinotefuran and Rotenone sheets use the standard input format for the TWO-SEX life table software, which is required for normal data analysis and cannot be restructured into single-column format. Observation termination: Marked as -1 Treatment groups: Control, beta-cypermethrin, dinotefuran, rotenone Experimental conditions: 27 ± 1 °C, 75 ± 5% RH, 15L:9D photoperiod Citation When reusing these data, please cite both the associated peer-reviewed manuscript and this Dryad data repository.
