Noninvasive Blood-Brain Barrier Imaging in Aging Community Cohorts.

Multiecho arterial spin labeling captures blood-brain barrier-related and hemodynamic changes associated with age, sex, and vascular risk factors, supporting its use as a noninvasive imaging biomarker for early cerebrovascular injury relevant to cardiovascular health.

Comparison of blood-brain barrier water exchange rate in young and older adults with diffusion-weighted and multi-echo arterial spin labeling MRI

Water exchange rate (Kw) across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) has emerged as a candidate biomarker for assessing aging and neurological disease. This work sought to compare the diffusion-weighted (DW) and multi-echo (ME) arterial spin labeling (ASL) MRI sequences that assess Kw across the BBB in a young and an ol...

Arterial spin-labeling-based exchange time mapping for differentiation of high-grade glioma and brain metastases

In this exploratory study, ASL-derived Tex suggests stronger BBB alterations in peritumoral tissue of high-grade gliomas compared with brain metastases and supports ASL-based BBB mapping as a complement to DSC leakage imaging.
