Carbohydrate catabolite repression is functionally redundant for the fermentation of lignocellulose-derived sugars by Thermoanaerobacterium thermosaccharolyticum.

De deleting the ptsH gene in T. thermosaccharolyticum provides new insights into sugar catabolism regulation in T. thermosaccharolyticum, and for the first time demonstrates that CCR is not important when fermenting lignocellulose-derived sugars.

Comparing deconstruction of sugarcane bagasse by a coculture of thermophilic bacteria and a fungal cellulase system.

This study provides the first direct comparison of unpretreated SCB deconstruction mediated by a thermophilic bacterial culture to a fungal cellulase preparation in the presence of yeast and highlights the potential of CBP with thermophilic bacteria as an alternative to conventional strategies.
