XScientist: A Git-Like Research Protocol for Long-Running Autonomous Scientific Discovery

The current XScientist architecture, the ARA protocol surface, and the practical safeguards needed to move autonomous science from single-run demos toward reproducible, reviewable, and forkable research infrastructure are described.
