Enhanced chromatin compaction is associated with de novo expression of a nuclear microprotein, global loss of H3 acetylation and local transcriptional changes in retinal rod photoreceptors
This work uncovers a megabase-sized genomic region with multi-level alterations, including de novo transcription of Gm7239, which encodes a functional microprotein carrying histone acetyltransferase-inhibitor domain, highlighting a potential new axis of genomic regulation in aging.
