Spatiotemporal heterologous vaccination relies on type I interferons at priming to enhance mucosal immunity.

Parenteral vaccines against respiratory viruses poorly block infection and transmission due to suboptimal induction of mucosal immunity. In contrast, hybrid immunity and heterologous-route immunization regimens generate protective mucosal and systemic immunity. Herein, we examine how chronological order in heterologous...

Strategically leveraging Influenza A induced trained immunity to shape immune profiles to subsequent vaccination with heterologous antigens 2309699

It is demonstrated that vaccination through different routes (mucosal vs. systemic) differentially harnesses trained immune responses established by prior viral respiratory infection and alters the local inflammatory cell composition and subsequently alters the Th and mucosal antibody response induced by immunization.
