Target-oriented synthesis of benzoquinoline-embedded candidates: antimicrobial potential and in silico insights

A new series of benzo[h]quinoline-based derivatives was synthesized using a thiocarbohydrazone scaffold as a versatile intermediate for the construction of diverse nitrogen- and sulfur-containing heterocycles, including tetrazine, thiadiazole, triazole, pyrazole, and thiadiazine motifs. These structural variations were...

Novel bis(benzylidene)-6-methyl-2-thiouracil derivatives: design, synthesis, and molecular docking as potential antimicrobial agents against multidrug-resistant pathogenic bacteria

Pyrimidine-based heterocycles are crucial scaffolds in medicinal chemistry due to their extensive biological activity. This study involved the condensation of 6-methyl-2-thiouracil with various aromatic aldehydes under reflux in acetic and hydrochloric acid, resulting in the synthesis of a novel series of bis(benzylide...

Rational design, synthesis, and antimicrobial evaluation of novel 1,2,3-triazole hybrids: structure–activity relationships, molecular docking, and DFT studies

The results suggest that the 2,4-dichlorophenyl–1,2,3-triazole scaffold represents a promising starting point for further optimization, with antimicrobial activity governed by a balance between electronic properties and physicochemical factors influencing membrane permeability.
