Lean Methodology and Operational Excellence: A Framework for Process Optimization and Cycle Time Reduction in Productivity Enhancement

This research examines the integration of Lean Methodology and Operational Excellence as a strategic framework for improving the organization's productivity. The global market is becoming increasingly competitive, and it is a challenge for the sector to ensure good quality standards and to reduce lead times. This study investigates the effect of the synergy between Lean's waste reduction tools and the cultural element of Operational Excellence with its long-term continuous improvement approach for the development of a solid methodology for operational efficiency. A quantitative descriptive-comparative design was used in the study to evaluate the current and proposed reel receiving processes through a time and motion study. This study provides the main drivers to eliminate non-value-added operations and increase throughput. It presents a systematic approach to improving workflows and increasing output through Lean techniques such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen, and 5S. The methodologies reduced the cycle time by 28.47% and increased productivity by 39.32%. These results highlight the power of these tools to create cultures of continuous improvement and optimization. The research provides a practical, data-driven strategy that the organization will implement to reduce waste and achieve sustainable growth.
