MORTALIDADE POR ACIDENTES DE TRANSPORTE EM FOZ DO IGUAÇU, PARANÁ: PERFIL DAS VÍTIMAS E EVOLUÇÃO TEMPORAL, 1996–2024

This study aimed to analyze mortality from transport accidents in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, between 1996 and 2024, considering its magnitude, victim profile, distribution according to ICD-10 groups, temporal evolution, and differences between men and women. This is an ecological, descriptive, and time-series study conducted using data from the Mortality Information System and population estimates from DATASUS/IBGE. Absolute and relative frequencies, proportional mortality, crude rates, and age-standardized rates using the direct method were calculated, utilizing the 2010 population of Foz do Iguaçu as the standard. The years 1996 and 2024 were also compared. During the period, external causes accounted for 19.75% of deaths in the municipality, and transport accidents represented 25.58% of these deaths. A total of 2,215 deaths from transport accidents were recorded, with a predominance of males (79.73%) and the age group of 20 to 39 years (45.33%). Pedestres, car occupants, and motorcyclists stand out among the identified groups. Standardized rates were higher among men throughout the entire series. It is concluded that, although there was a reduction in mortality over the period, transport accidents remain an important external cause of death in the municipality, with a greater impact on men and young adults.

Analysis of coverage of the Family Health Strategy of the twin cities of Brazil 2016-2020.

This article aims to analyze the temporal trend of Family Health Strategy (FHS) coverage and its associated factors in Brazilian twin cities between 2016 and 2020. This is a retrospective ecological study of a temporal analysis conducted on the 33 twin cities of Brazil. Secondary data were collected from e-Gestor AB, and variables regarding FHS coverage, population size, border arcs, and temporality were used. Descriptive measures were used in the statistical analysis, which were arcived, tabulated, and analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2019. It was observed that the Northern arc had the highest coverage, followed by the Southern and Midwestern arcs, respectively, with small twin cities standing out in terms of population size. As regards coverage evolution, the Southern arc stood out with a growing trend, while the Northern and Midwestern arcs showed a decrease in the last year of the study. FHS coverage in twin cities varied among the three arcs, likely due to the sociodemographic characteristics of each arc and the particularities in the management of basic care services in municipalities.
