Pharmacomicrobiomics in metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes: the microbiome–drug–host triad

This narrative review synthesizes contemporary evidence on the contribution of the gut microbiota to the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome and T2DM and critically examines bidirectional interactions between the microbiome and antidiabetic therapy within the framework of pharmacomicrobiomics.
