Bibliometric Examination of Studies on Green Economy and Sustainable Development

The three biggest problems facing the world are environmental pollution, climate change, and the depletion of natural resources, which seriously threaten the sustainability of current economic growth models. These problems necessitate a reassessment and review of both environmental policies and perspectives on economic development. The current review focuses on the keywords and concepts that most influence the relationship between green economy and sustainable development. For this reason, bibliometric analysis is performed on data collected from the Web of Science database using VOSviewer 1.6.20 and Python 3.10. Additionally, the Seaborn, NetworkX, and Pygal data visualization tools in Python 3.10 are also used. The study evaluates the bibliometric analysis of 1,603 publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection under the headings of "green economy" and "sustainable development" between 1993 and 2025. These results show researchers a strong and influential interdisciplinary field, coinciding with the growing global interest in environmental issues since 2018. Keywords and thematic analyses highlight growth models based on sustainability. However, a trend towards future-oriented themes such as circular economy, renewable energy, and green innovation is also observable.
