HerpetoHelp: interactive mapping of Brazilian amphibian and reptile occurrence records
HerpetoHelp is an interactive web application for exploring georeferenced occurrence records of Brazilian amphibians and reptiles. It supports multi-species comparison, synonym-aware taxonomic search, biome-based exploration, spatial filtering with user-supplied KMZ polygons, and provenance-aware spreadsheet export. Version 1.1.1 adds reconciliation with the 2026 checklist of Brazilian reptiles, including Urostrophus undulatus, and provides 2,992 searchable historical or synonymous names linked to accepted names. All released aliases resolve to species in the production catalog, while ambiguous taxonomic relationships remain flagged for manual review. The release includes source code, documentation, data-preparation procedures, and 18 automated tests. SALVE/ICMBio occurrence records, sensitive coordinates, and generated production datasets are not included. Generative AI tools, including ChatGPT, assisted with implementation, documentation, and review; scientific decisions, validation, authorship, and responsibility remain with the human author.
