JUniForm Based on the reweighting strategy proposed by Lawson, a Chebyshev approximation approach is implemented in JUniForm. According to ISO 10360-6, the orthogonal distance is minimized with respect to the Chebyshev norm; that is, the largest deviation is minimized. The stochastic model commonly used in weighted least-squares adjustment is neglected when the Chebyshev approximation is employed. To verify the implementation, 50 freely available test data sets provided by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany's national metrology institute, were used. The corresponding report, Evaluation Software Based on the Minimum-Zone Method for Coordinate Measuring Machines, indicates that the algorithm performs quite well, provided that appropriate initial approximation values are supplied. Please note that Lawson's reweighting strategy is merely an approximation of the Chebyshev norm. Furthermore, no statistical metrics are currently provided. This is an experimental feature.
