An optimization-embedded simulation approach for quantifying the operational impacts of right-sizing prenatal care
A discrete-event simulation model is proposed, which captures patient-related heterogeneity, with a mixed-integer linear programming model embedded within it, to schedule patients on a weekly basis, and suggests that tailoring care significantly reduces delays, rescheduling, and overbooking.
